Common Health Problems We Get Embarrassed About but Shouldn’t

We all encounter health problems in our life but some, whether because of where they are located or how they manifest themselves, seem more embarrassing than others. Whilst something being embarrassing isn’t the worst thing as we don’t openly discuss our illness’s even that aren’t considered a taboo, this ideology becomes an issue when people refuse to go and see a doctor because of the apparently embarrassing nature of their illness.

Common Health Problems We Get Embarrassed About

So, what are these illness’s that we sometimes feel awkward talking about? It is worth saying before we go any further with this list that no illness is embarrassing and you should see a doctor for whatever is bothering you, regardless of whether you see it on the list below.

Anything to do with Pee

Make that any bodily function to be exact. The minute we have an issue surrounding something that exits our body, there seems to be some kind of taboo around it but there shouldn’t be. We are all going to have some kind of UTI one day and if you want information on them then you can check articles such as this written by Reliant that discusses UTI Symptoms, Causes & Treatment. Most of the time they are easily solved and so it is nothing that you need to worry yourself about.

Acne As an Adult

According to a study that was conducted by the American Academy of Dermatology, more women are beginning to get pimples. In fact, it found out of 2900 women, 45% of them who were between the ages of 21 and 30 had acne. These numbers were similar as women got older too as it was 26% for those in their 30s and 12% in their 40s. The fact of that matter is that it is a very common condition and not one that you should be embarrassed about. Dermatologists aren’t exactly sure why women are so prone to acne, but they say that it may well be due to the fluctuating hormones that can occur during pregnancy or menopause, it can also be the result of taking medication or from having a family history of acne. There are over the counter medications for acne you can buy that might help.

Excessive Sweating

This is also known as hyperidrosis and it refers to when people sweat a lot even when the temperature is cool or when they rest. It is quite common as it affects 3% of the US population according to the National Institutes of Health. Experts believe that it is caused when we have overactive sweat glands and can also be linked to conditions such as anxiety, heart disease, menopause or cancer. There are common remedies such as regularly applying antiperspirant; however, it can also be treated thanks to prescribed antiperspirants that contain aluminum chloride.

Conclusion

There are a lot of conditions that people all over the world encounter and yet for some reason they are regarded as embarrassing. There is no such thing as an embarrassing health condition and regardless of what you may think about yours, you should talk to your doctor about it.
