One of the greatest milestones in many people’s lives is going to college. It is a great achievement to qualify for college. As such, we all want to have a good experience and memorable times in college. However, there are a number of challenges and bad experiences that you may have to avoid while you are in college.  We shall discuss some of these challenges and how one can overcome them. 1. Alcohol and substance abuse

This is one of the things that no one may have talked to you about college. You need to know that there are rampant uses and abuse of drugs in college. The fact that the young adults are free and on their own could make them excited and end up getting into bad company and doing things that are detrimental to their lives. Most of the people who undergo alcohol detox in colorado are college students. This means that they are vulnerable and can easily be misled into alcohol and substance abuse. As such, you need to ensure that you don’t fall into bad company and peer pressure that could lead you to abuse alcohol and drugs.

2. A sick kit for college illnesses

You may not anticipate any sicknesses in college. However, the fact that you will be sharing facilities with others means that you could easily get infected with some college illnesses such as flu, headaches, stomach aches and all sorts of airborne illnesses. You may also have attended college in a place where the climate is not suitable for you. You have to go to college well prepared to take care of your health. You could pack a kit with aspirin, ibuprofen, and bandages and so on. Always have a first aid kit nearby. Remember that your parents will not be around to administer first aid to you. You should also ensure you are eating well-balanced diets to avoid most of the illnesses.

3. Homesickness

This is yet another challenge that you may not have thought about. The fact that you have been living with your parents during your high school years means that you will suffer from homesickness. The best way to solve this problem is to vsddisit home at least once a month. You may also need to call your family and friends frequently to help you cope with being far from them.

4. Depression

Depression is a common problem that affects many people in college. There are many problems that could raise a student’s stress levels such that this stress becomes a form of depression. One of the best ways to avoid this problem is to seek professional support. Many colleges will have healthcare facilities where one can receive all the care they need when they are depressed. You need not relieve your depression through partying and other activities that could compound the problem.

5. Challenges and conflicts with friends and roommates

It is common for college students to face challenges such as quarrels and other conflicts. You could easily fall victim to these problems and as such, you need to know how to go about the solutions. You could take some time off college where you can visit coffee shops or even malls. Take some time to walk around and relieve the stress that comes with these challenges.
