Remove Wisdom Teeth

How to know it’s Time to remove your Wisdom Teeth?

There are many people who have wisdom teeth without any major problems, but then there are also those who end up having to get them extracted. If you think you might need to have your wisdom teeth pulled because they might cause issues for you later on down the line then you would need to contact your dental office to make an appointment to have them checked out. Below you will read about some of the various different reasons people have their wisdom teeth removed.

The Wisdom Teeth Don’t fit

The majority of people only have room in their mouth for 28 teeth. However, wisdom teeth coming in makes 32 teeth in the mouth. This will be an attempt to expand the jaw to make room in your mouth, and when there is no room for these extra teeth then the adjustment of your jaw can go misaligned. With that being said, you would need to have the teeth removed so that you will have enough space for the other teeth in your mouth.

Feelings of Intense Pain in Your Gums

A lot of the times people have wisdom teeth removed because they start to experience intense or chronic pain in their gums where the wisdom teeth are growing in at. Signs of this occurring could mean that you are developing an infection in your gums due to the wisdom teeth erupting. This can also be caused by bacteria that has been growing in the area of the wisdom tooth eruption. Having the wisdom tooth or teeth removed can cause the pain and the infection to go away, along with taking pain and antibiotic medicine.

Wisdom Teeth Coming in Crooked

If your wisdom teeth come in crooked then there could be issues with your other teeth becoming damaged. To keep your teeth from becoming damaged you need to have your wisdom teeth removed by professionals such as those at Neilson Dental Centre Scarborough. It’s important to have this done as soon as possible so that your other teeth aren’t ruined by the wisdom teeth.

Cysts

Sometimes some people might experience cysts forming around their wisdom tooth. These are fluid-filled bumps that surround the bone and the tooth roots. In some cases that are rare the cysts can turn into a tumor which would require intense surgical care.

The Procedure of Removing the Wisdom Teeth

It is important that you talk to your dentist so that you will have a better understanding of how the procedure will work and more about the after care of the wisdom teeth removal surgery. Some of the things that you might want to ask your dentist about include:

  • How many teeth need to be remove at your visit (sometimes all of them are removed and sometimes only a couple at a time).
  • What anesthesia medications will be used? You will need someone to drive you home because you won’t be able to drive.
  • What should you do before the surgery? You doctor might ask that you stay away from certain pain medicines or anything that thins your blood before you have surgery.
